Questions, answered

Straight answers, no jargon. Can’t see yours? Just ask.

What is a virtual (or fractional) Finance Director?

A senior finance person who works with your business part-time. You get the experience of a full-time Finance Director for a few days a month, on a fixed monthly fee, instead of paying a full-time salary.

I already have an accountant. Do I still need this?

Usually yes, and the two work well together. Your accountant looks backwards: year-end accounts, tax returns and compliance. A Finance Director looks forward: planning, cash, pricing and decisions. We work alongside your accountant, not instead of them.

What are management accounts?

A short monthly report showing what you sold, what it cost, what profit you made and where your cash is. They are different from year-end statutory accounts: they are made for you to run the business, not for HMRC.

Do I need to understand finance to work with you?

No. Everything is explained in plain English, with no jargon, and we will always tell you what a number means and what to do about it.

How much does it cost?

Support is on a fixed monthly fee, so you know what you are paying. The fee depends on how much help you need, so get in touch for a quote.

Which accounting software do you work with?

Xero, QuickBooks and Sage, plus Excel, Power BI and Looker Studio for reporting and dashboards. If you are not sure what suits you, we will recommend one.

Are you a tax adviser or a law firm?

No. For specialist tax advice we work with your accountant or tax adviser, and for legal advice we work with your solicitor. We make sure the numbers and the commercial side are right.

Where are you based?

Manchester, supporting small businesses across the UK.

How do we get started?

Book an intro call. We talk through what is on your mind, and then agree what help makes sense.

Tell us what’s on your mind.
